Location: York (Hybrid – 1 day per week from home)
Salary: £37,000 – £40,000 DOE
Experience: 3+ years practice experience

We are working with a rapidly growing accountancy firm based in York that is looking to recruit an experienced Accountant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid practice experience who is ready to step into a role where they can make an immediate impact and grow alongside the firm.
The ideal candidate will be confident managing their workload independently and comfortable dealing directly with clients. Experience running your own portfolio is preferred but not essential, as support and development will be provided where needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of accounts for a varied client base
- Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
- Reviewing work and ensuring compliance with current accounting standards
- Supporting junior team members where appropriate
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm
- VAT returns
About You
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within an accountancy practice
- Confident, proactive, and able to “hit the ground running”
- Experience managing a client portfolio (desirable but not essential)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
