Residential & Commercial Property Paralegal
Role Overview
A well-established and growing law firm is seeking a proactive and organised Residential & Commercial Property Paralegal to join its busy property department. The successful candidate will support fee earners across a varied caseload of residential and commercial property transactions, assisting with matters from instruction through to completion and post-completion.
This role is ideal for a motivated individual with previous conveyancing experience who is confident supporting fee earners, dealing with routine enquiries and managing post-completion requirements. Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting fee earners with a broad range of residential and commercial property matters from instruction through to completion and post-completion.
- Supporting fee earners with the day-to-day progression of conveyancing files.
- Preparing contract packs, legal documents, reports and completion statements.
- Conducting property searches and assisting with title investigations.
- Raising and responding to routine enquiries under the supervision of the relevant fee earner.
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, brokers, solicitors and other third parties.
- Assisting with freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
- Supporting matters involving re-mortgages, transfers of equity and new build transactions.
- Preparing SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.
- Assisting with exchange and completion processes.
- Dealing with post-completion work, including registration applications, requisitions and ensuring matters are properly concluded.
- Following up on outstanding post-completion requirements and maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting fee earners with correspondence and routine client queries.
- Ensuring AML checks and compliance procedures are completed accurately.
- Maintaining accurate case records and updating the firm's case management system.
- Monitoring deadlines and ensuring tasks are progressed promptly.
- Providing general administrative and legal support to the wider property team as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Property Paralegal or Legal Assistant within residential or commercial conveyancing.
- A sound understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction through to completion.
- Experience supporting fee earners with enquiries and day-to-day file progression.
- Practical post-completion experience, including Land Registry applications, registrations and requisitions.
- Experience dealing with freehold and leasehold transactions would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Strong communication and client care skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A Law degree, LPC/SQE, CLC qualification or equivalent legal studies would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Additional language skills are beneficial but not essential.
