A well-established and reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Duty Solicitor to join its growing Criminal Defence team based in Stockport.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor to handle a varied and interesting criminal caseload within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role
You will represent clients across a broad range of criminal matters, providing high-quality legal advice and advocacy at both the police station and Magistrates’ Court.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing representation at police stations and Magistrates’ Courts
• Managing a varied criminal defence caseload
• Advising clients on criminal law matters from initial instruction through to conclusion
• Conducting advocacy where appropriate
• Preparing legal documentation and case files
• Liaising with courts, counsel, clients, and third parties
• Delivering excellent client care in often sensitive and high-pressure situations
• Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor with Duty Solicitor accreditation
• Experience handling criminal defence matters independently
• Strong advocacy and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Excellent organisational and client-care abilities
• Ability to manage a varied caseload efficiently
• Team-oriented with a proactive and professional approach
