Housing Disrepair Solicitor

We are seeking an experienced Housing Disrepair Solicitor to join a growing and ambitious department. You will manage a varied caseload of pre- and post-litigation housing conditions claims on behalf of tenants, playing a key role in the continued development of the team and with clear scope for progression.

The Role
You will have full responsibility for your own caseload, handling matters efficiently in a fast-paced, volume litigation environment, while maintaining high standards of technical work and client care.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing pre- and post-litigation Housing Disrepair claims from inception to settlement or trial
  • Complying with the Housing Conditions Pre-Action Protocol
  • Drafting Letters of Claim, pleadings, schedules of special damages and court documents
  • Reviewing housing records, disclosure and surveyor reports (Claimant and Defendant)
  • Assessing liability and quantum
  • Conducting negotiations, settlements and mediations
  • Issuing proceedings and liaising with counsel where required
  • Maintaining accurate case files using Proclaim or similar case management systems
  • Building strong client relationships and delivering excellent client care
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams, experts and external stakeholders
  • Supporting departmental productivity, compliance and service standards

About You

  • 3–5 years’ PQE with demonstrable experience in Housing Disrepair claims (essential)
    (Strong contentious civil litigators will also be considered)
  • Solid knowledge of housing legislation, including the Landlord & Tenant Act
  • Proven ability to run matters independently from pre-action through to resolution
  • Experience handling volume litigation and working to tight deadlines
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and litigation skills
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator able to build rapport with clients and professionals
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to manage competing priorities
