Housing Disrepair Team Leader
Location: Manchester or Liverpool
Salary: From £50,000 DOE + Bonus
Contract: Permanent
Full Time - Hybrid
The Opportunity
Puro Associates are working with a growing legal practice that is looking to appoint an experienced Housing Disrepair Team Leader to join its expanding litigation department.
This is a key management position for someone with solid litigation experience who is confident leading a team while remaining hands-on with their own caseload.
You will be responsible for supporting and developing Fee Earners and Paralegals, maintaining high standards of client care and compliance, and helping the wider department achieve its operational and financial objectives.
The Role
As Team Leader, you will:
- Lead, manage and develop a team of Fee Earners and Paralegals.
- Allocate and monitor workloads to ensure matters are progressed effectively.
- Set and monitor individual and team targets.
- Conduct regular 1-to-1s, team meetings and performance reviews.
- Coach and mentor team members to improve technical and operational performance.
- Audit files and provide constructive feedback and supervision.
- Review key legal documentation and ensure appropriate standards are maintained.
- Deal with performance, workload and day-to-day team issues.
- Support recruitment, induction and ongoing development of new team members.
- Monitor client care, compliance and departmental procedures.
- Identify operational risks and opportunities to improve processes.
- Work closely with other Team Leaders and senior management.
- Keep up to date with developments in Housing Disrepair and relevant legislation.
- Help identify training requirements and implement improvements across the department.
- Maintain your own caseload alongside your management responsibilities.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 2 years' litigation experience.
- Previous Housing Disrepair experience is highly desirable.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing legal staff.
- Experience managing a caseload within a volume litigation environment.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and client-care skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Confidence making decisions and solving problems.
- Ability to work to targets and strict SLAs without compromising quality.
- A proactive approach to coaching and developing others.
- Experience with Proclaim or another legal case management system is advantageous.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
