Role Overview
We are seeking a Housing Solicitor with at least 1 year post-qualification experience to join a highly regarded Social Welfare team.
The successful candidate will primarily handle a varied Housing Law caseload, with opportunities to also work across community care, public law, and Court of Protection matters if desired.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor passionate about access to justice and legal aid work, with scope to develop within a busy and expanding department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a full housing law caseload efficiently and effectively
  • Advising clients on appropriate legal strategies and next steps
  • Communicating clearly and regularly with clients in line with client care standards
  • Handling correspondence, negotiations, and advocacy where appropriate
  • Maintaining accurate time recording and ensuring timely billing and file closure
  • Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements where applicable
  • Staying up to date with legal developments in housing and related areas
  • Carrying out administrative duties in line with internal procedures
  • Working collaboratively within the team and providing or receiving supervision as required

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 1 year PQE in Housing Law covering a broad range of matters
  • Strong knowledge of legal aid funding and CCMS systems
  • Experience of privately funded work (desirable)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client group
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage workload under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience working to targets
  • Strong IT skills
  • Current Practising Certificate
  • Commitment to access to justice and client care excellence
