Role Overview
We are seeking a Housing Solicitor with at least 1 year post-qualification experience to join a highly regarded Social Welfare team.
The successful candidate will primarily handle a varied Housing Law caseload, with opportunities to also work across community care, public law, and Court of Protection matters if desired.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor passionate about access to justice and legal aid work, with scope to develop within a busy and expanding department.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a full housing law caseload efficiently and effectively
- Advising clients on appropriate legal strategies and next steps
- Communicating clearly and regularly with clients in line with client care standards
- Handling correspondence, negotiations, and advocacy where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate time recording and ensuring timely billing and file closure
- Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements where applicable
- Staying up to date with legal developments in housing and related areas
- Carrying out administrative duties in line with internal procedures
- Working collaboratively within the team and providing or receiving supervision as required
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year PQE in Housing Law covering a broad range of matters
- Strong knowledge of legal aid funding and CCMS systems
- Experience of privately funded work (desirable)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client group
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage workload under pressure and meet deadlines
- Experience working to targets
- Strong IT skills
- Current Practising Certificate
- Commitment to access to justice and client care excellence
