Payroll & Bookkeeping Assistant – Join a Friendly, Established Accountancy Practice
Are you an experienced Payroll professional looking for a varied role within a supportive and welcoming accountancy practice?
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Payroll & Bookkeeping Assistant to join a well-established firm. This role has become available due to a planned replacement and offers the chance to take ownership of an established client payroll portfolio while supporting the wider accounts team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of approximately 70–75 client payrolls from start to finish.
- Processing weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
- Liaising with clients regarding payroll queries.
- Completing bookkeeping duties for a range of clients.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Assisting with the preparation of personal tax returns.
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation.
About You
- Previous experience managing payroll within an accountancy practice or bureau environment.
- Confident processing multiple client payrolls simultaneously.
- Experience with bookkeeping and VAT returns.
- Personal tax experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills with a client-focused approach.
