Job Description – Senior Accountant | Northampton | Up to £40,000 DOE

Our client, a respected and growing accountancy practice based in Northampton, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional who enjoys building strong client relationships and delivering high-quality accountancy services.

As a Senior Accountant, the successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients across a diverse range of industries. The role offers a blend of compliance, advisory, and supervisory responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who is ready to step into a key position within a supportive practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing year-end accounts for a wide range of clients
  • Producing management accounts and reports to support business decisions
  • Completing corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing mentorship
  • Attending client meetings to discuss accounts, tax planning, and advisory matters
  • Ensuring all financial records are accurate and compliant with legislation
  • Assisting clients with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
  • Building long-term client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser
  • Supporting the partners with ad-hoc projects and practice development initiatives


Key Requirements:

  • ACCA/ACA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Proven background working in a UK accountancy practice (essential)
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a varied client portfolio independently
  • Proficiency with accountancy software packages and Microsoft Office
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
