We are seeking a dedicated Senior Bookkeeper to join our team in an established UK accountancy practice. This role is bookkeeping & VAT-focused and is ideal for someone who wants to build a long-term career specialising in bookkeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients
• Prepare and submit VAT returns on time
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain accurate double-entry bookkeeping up to trial balance
• Review work of more junior bookkeeping staff if required
• Liaise with HMRC & other regulatory bodies in relation to VAT matters
• Meet deadlines reliably and maintain high levels of accuracy

To be successful in this role you will have / be

• MUST have a minimum 5 years’ experience working directly in a UK accountancy practice (without this experience your CV will not be considered)
• Strong, hands-on experience with Xero
• Solid understanding of VAT rules and returns in the UK
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and meet deadlines
• Good communication skills, both with colleagues and clients
• Accounting/bookkeeping qualification (e.g. AAT) is desirable but not essential
