The Opportunity
An established legal practice is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Solicitor with secured lending expertise to join its growing property team in a senior, supervisory capacity.
This opportunity would suit a technically strong property lawyer who enjoys managing complex transactions, maintaining high standards of legal work and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
Alongside managing your own caseload, you will play an important role in reviewing files, overseeing quality and risk, and helping the team deliver an efficient, client-focused service.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a specialist caseload of secured lending and property transactions, including matters involving corporate borrowers.
- Handling complex transactions such as transfers of part, lease extensions, grants of lease and transfers of equity.
- Reviewing title documents and supporting evidence to ensure matters meet lender requirements.
- Checking mortgage conditions, lender instructions and relevant legal obligations.
- Reviewing files prepared by junior colleagues and providing approval for Certificates of Title where appropriate.
- Identifying legal, title and compliance risks and ensuring issues are addressed before completion or sign-off.
- Supporting junior team members through technical guidance, file reviews, mentoring and training.
- Monitoring deadlines, service standards and team performance to ensure transactions progress efficiently.
- Preparing and reviewing legal documents, completion statements and registration submissions.
- Liaising with borrowers, brokers, lenders and other parties to keep transactions moving.
- Supporting senior management with improvements to processes, risk management and service delivery.
- Ensuring compliance with AML requirements, internal procedures and professional standards.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience as a qualified Solicitor with a strong background in conveyancing and property law.
- Good technical knowledge of secured lending transactions and lender requirements.
- Confidence dealing with complex title matters and transactions requiring a high level of legal scrutiny.
- Experience reviewing files, identifying risks and maintaining quality standards.
- The ability to make sound legal decisions and escalate issues appropriately.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance fee-earning responsibilities with supervisory duties.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with clients and third parties.
- A good understanding of AML requirements, compliance and risk management.
