The Role
An established and growing accountancy practice is looking to appoint a Tax Assistant to join its tax team.
This is a varied role offering exposure to a broad portfolio of private clients, including individuals, company directors, business owners and partnerships. You will work closely with senior members of the tax team, taking responsibility for your own client portfolio while also providing support on more complex tax work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Preparing and reviewing Self-Assessment tax returns.
  • Responding to client queries and providing appropriate guidance on routine tax matters.
  • Handling tax payment reminders and related client correspondence.
  • Communicating with HMRC to resolve queries and deal with client matters.
  • Liaising with a range of external professional contacts, including solicitors, accountants, financial advisers and other tax professionals.
  • Supporting senior members of the tax team with more complex personal tax returns and assignments.
  • Assisting with quarterly Making Tax Digital submissions.
  • Providing support with corporation tax calculations and the preparation of CT600 returns.
  • Contributing to the efficient day-to-day operation of the tax department.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and providing a high level of service.

About You

  • 2+ years’ practice experience
  • Experience of preparing personal tax returns.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional and client-focused approach.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of your work.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • A dependable and team-oriented approach.
