A well-established and growing independent accountancy practice based in central Glasgow, providing a full range of services including accounts preparation, tax compliance, audit, and business advisory.
We act for a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, sole traders, partnerships, and individuals across a range of industries.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our general practice team. This is a varied role offering exposure to accounts preparation, tax compliance, and client advisory work within a supportive and professional environment.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting and compliance services while supporting the wider team on advisory work.
This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working in a general practice environment with broad client exposure and opportunities for progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
  • Prepare management accounts and bookkeeping reviews.
  • Complete VAT returns and other VAT-related compliance work.
  • Assist with preparation of personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Liaise with clients to resolve queries and provide ongoing business support.
  • Work closely with partners and managers on client assignments and advisory projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve client processes and add value.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting and tax regulations.

Person Specification

  • ACCA / ACA / AAT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
  • Experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts for a range of business entities.
  • Strong bookkeeping and VAT experience.
  • Familiarity with personal and corporate tax compliance.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Team player with a positive and professional attitude.
