Accountant
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
Location: Stratford-upon-Avon
A growing accountancy firm is looking to recruit an experienced Accountant to join its Stratford-upon-Avon office. This is a varied, client-facing role offering responsibility for a portfolio of sole traders, partnerships, landlords, and owner-managed businesses.
The successful candidate will be involved in preparing year-end accounts, completing Self-Assessment tax returns, and supporting clients with Making Tax Digital requirements. The role also includes regular client interaction, providing practical advice, and helping businesses improve their financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships
- Complete Self-Assessment tax returns and calculate liabilities
- Review client records and resolve discrepancies
- Manage HMRC submissions and ensure deadlines are met
- Support clients with MTD compliance and quarterly reporting
- Act as a main point of contact for client queries
Requirements
- Experience in a UK accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of Self-Assessment and unincorporated businesses
- Familiar with software such as Xero or QuickBooks
- AAT qualified or equivalent
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
- ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified
- Experience with rural or family-run businesses
