Description
Semi- Senior Accounts
Location: Hexham, Northumberland - Hybrid available after probation
Salary: Up to £35,000
Working Pattern: Full-time
The Opportunity
We’re working with a well-established, independent accountancy firm based in Hexham that is looking to expand an existing part-time position into a full-time role.
This is a great opportunity for a well-rounded practice accountant who enjoys a varied workload and being directly involved with clients. The firm is open to candidates at different stages of their career and doesn’t require you to be fully ACA or ACCA qualified. If you’re working towards a qualification, the employer is more than happy to support you with this.
You’ll work across accounts, bookkeeping and tax, with plenty of client contact and the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the role develops.
What’s on Offer?
- Salary up to £35,000, depending on experience
- Hybrid working available after the 6-month probation period
- Enhanced staff pension scheme after probation
- Private health insurance after probation
- 20 days’ annual leave + 8 bank holidays
- An additional day’s holiday for each year of service for your first 5 years
- Bonus scheme
- Client referral fee for introducing new clients to the firm
- Support towards ACA/ACCA qualification where appropriate
- Long-term opportunity to progress within a growing independent practice
The Role
You’ll have a varied portfolio of responsibilities, including:
- Preparing year-end accounts for a range of clients
- Accounts preparation
- Bookkeeping
- Preparing sole trader accounts and tax returns
- Preparing limited company tax computations and returns
- Preparing personal tax returns
- Working with clients directly and handling day-to-day queries
- Assisting with more complex tax work, including trust tax returns
About You
We’re looking for someone with solid experience within an accountancy practice who can confidently manage a varied workload and enjoys working directly with clients.
You’ll ideally have experience across both accounts and tax, with a preference for candidates who have experience preparing trust tax returns.
Experience with Digita would be highly advantageous, although this isn’t essential.
You don’t need to be fully ACA or ACCA qualified — what’s more important is having strong practical experience, a good understanding of accounts and tax, and the ambition to continue developing your career.
If you’re looking for a role where you can build strong client relationships, broaden your experience and progress within a supportive independent firm, this could be a great fit.
