Accounts Team Manager
Salary: Up to £54,000 DOE
Location: Paisley
Working Pattern: Office-based initially, with hybrid working available following probation
We’re working with an established and growing accountancy practice that is looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Team Manager as part of its longer-term succession planning.
This is a varied, client-facing role for a qualified accountant who is confident managing a portfolio, reviewing accounts and supporting more junior team members. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and play a key role in helping to drive the practice forward.

The Role
- Manage a varied portfolio of clients from start to finish.
- Prepare and review year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and groups.
- Prepare and review management accounts and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review corporation tax computations and returns.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing commercially focused advice and support.
- Identify opportunities to add value across the client portfolio.
- Manage workflow, deadlines and the delivery of client assignments.
- Review work completed by junior members of the team.
- Mentor, develop and support trainees and junior accountants.
- Assist with more complex accounting, tax and advisory matters.
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice.
- Keep up to date with relevant accounting, tax and regulatory developments.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is qualified and experienced within accountancy practice, with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to take ownership of both clients and people.
Personality is important here. The successful candidate will be talkative, outgoing and well-rounded, with the confidence to build relationships with clients and colleagues and become a key part of the wider business.
You’ll ideally have:
- A recognised accounting qualification such as ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent.
- Around 5+ years' practice experience.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing accounts.
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
- Previous experience supervising or managing a team.
- Strong knowledge of accounts and taxation for owner-managed businesses.
- Previous experience with IRIS is highly desirable.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Karbon would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach and the ambition to help move the business forward.
Progression
