Description

An established professional services firm is seeking an experienced Accounts Technician to join its growing practice team based in the Ashbourne area of County Meath. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a mix of office-based and remote working, flexible scheduling, and exposure to a diverse client base.
The successful candidate will work within the accounts function and report to a senior member of the finance team. The role provides an opportunity to engage with a broad range of clients across multiple sectors.
Working Hours
The standard schedule operates across four full weekdays with a shorter day at the end of the week. Flexibility around start and finish times is available, along with the option to work remotely on selected days.
Compensation
A competitive salary package is offered, including performance-related incentives.
Role Overview
This position involves supporting the preparation and delivery of financial information for a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of working papers and financial statements in line with applicable regulations
  • Assisting with periodic management accounts (typically quarterly or semi-annual)
  • Completion and submission of VAT and other statutory returns
  • Supporting year-end accounting processes and file preparation
  • Performing bank reconciliations
  • Responding to client queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Managing assigned tasks independently while contributing to team objectives
  • Undertaking additional duties as required within the practice

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role within a professional practice environment
  • Relevant qualification such as Accounting Technician certification or payroll/finance accreditation
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Well-organised with the ability to manage workloads effectively
  • Self-driven with a proactive approach to responsibilities
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (intermediate level or above)
  • Experience with accounting and financial software packages (e.g. accounts production and bookkeeping systems)
