Puro Associates are delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in Jarrow who are looking to appoint an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional looking to develop their career within practice. The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of clients, gaining exposure to both self-assessment and corporation tax returns, alongside accounts preparation and general practice work.
The firm is open to candidates with different levels of experience and qualifications, but is ideally looking for someone with at least a couple of years' experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment.
The Role
As an Assistant Accountant, you'll support the wider accounts team in delivering a high-quality service to a diverse range of clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing self-assessment tax returns for individual clients
- Preparing corporation tax returns for limited companies
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts
- Preparing VAT returns and supporting bookkeeping activities
- Assisting with management accounts and financial reporting
- Maintaining accurate accounting records
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain relevant financial information
- Responding to client queries and providing day-to-day support
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Supporting senior members of the team across a varied client portfolio
About You
We're looking for someone with previous experience working within an accountancy practice who is keen to continue developing their career.
You'll ideally have:
- At least 2 years' experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment
- Experience preparing self-assessment and/or corporation tax returns
- Experience with accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT
- A relevant accounting qualification or be studying towards one, although qualification level is flexible
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Good communication and client relationship skills
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
