Criminal Defence SolicitorLocation: Central London
Salary: £55,000 per annum
The OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated solicitor looking to further develop their career within a respected criminal law practice. The firm is open to applications from qualified Duty Solicitors, as well as solicitors who are keen to work towards Duty Solicitor accreditation with full training and support provided.
Working alongside experienced solicitor advocates, you will gain exposure to a broad range of criminal matters, including police station representation, Magistrates' Court and Crown Court proceedings, appeals, and Court of Appeal work.
Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of criminal defence matters.
  • Providing legal advice and representation to clients at all stages of criminal proceedings.
  • Attending police stations and courts as required.
  • Preparing cases thoroughly and maintaining accurate case records.
  • Conducting advocacy where appropriate or developing advocacy skills with support from senior colleagues.
  • Delivering exceptional levels of client care and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

Candidate RequirementsThe successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Qualified Solicitor status in England and Wales.
  • Previous experience in Criminal Defence work.
  • Strong knowledge of criminal law and criminal procedure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational ability.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong IT and case management system skills.
  • A client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal advice.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Duty Solicitor accreditation is desirable but not essential.
