Experienced Bookkeeper – Cork
My client, a small but modern and growing accountancy practice based in Cork, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who has previously worked in a practice environment and is looking to contribute to a progressive firm.
Role Overview:
This position involves a broad range of bookkeeping responsibilities, providing essential support to the practice and its clients. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing deadlines, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns, including VAT Return of Trading Details
- Processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
- Use of online accountancy software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar
- Administration and compliance in relation to Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) for subcontractors
- File management including scanning, organisation, and cloud-based document handling
- Communicating effectively with clients and supporting them in day-to-day financial matters
Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a bookkeeping role within an accountancy practice
- Strong working knowledge of Irish VAT and RCT regulations
- Payroll processing experience (knowledge of BrightPay or similar software is beneficial)
- Proficient in the use of cloud-based accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online or Xero
- Familiarity with cloud storage tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, client-focused approach
