A well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Leicester is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to take ownership of a busy payroll function within a supportive and client-focused environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. They will act as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries and play an important role in maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing multiple client payrolls on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis
- Ensuring all payrolls are processed accurately and on time
- Handling statutory payments, deductions, and submissions (including RTI)
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Liaising with HMRC and resolving payroll queries
- Managing pension auto-enrolment processes
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
Requirements
- Proven experience in a payroll position, ideally within an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and procedures
- Experience with payroll software (e.g. Sage, BrightPay, or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication and client management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
