About the Firm

Our client is a well-established medium-sized accountancy and advisory practice based in Cork. The firm provides audit, tax, advisory and business services to a diverse portfolio of SMEs, owner-managed businesses, family-run companies and not-for-profit organisations.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will manage a portfolio of clients across a range of industries, delivering high-quality accounting, tax and business advisory services. You will work closely with partners and managers while acting as a key point of contact for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors
  • Prepare and review year-end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Prepare management accounts, cashflow forecasts and budgets
  • Prepare and review corporation tax, income tax and VAT returns
  • Liaise directly with clients and provide ongoing financial and business advice
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations and filing deadlines
  • Assist clients with Revenue audits, CRO filings and other statutory requirements
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members
  • Identify opportunities to improve clients’ financial processes and business performance
  • Support partners with ad hoc advisory assignments and practice development initiatives

Candidate Requirements

  • ACA, ACCA or CPA qualified
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice environment
  • Strong knowledge of Irish accounting standards, tax compliance and financial reporting
  • Experience managing a client portfolio
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
  • Proficient in accounting software and cloud-based systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
  • Full working rights in Ireland

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, ROS, Surf Accounts or similar systems
  • Exposure to industries such as retail, construction, hospitality, professional services or manufacturing
  • Experience with company secretarial work and CRO compliance
  • Experience assisting with business planning, restructuring or tax planning projects
