Job Title: Senior Payroll Administrator
Location: Newton Abbot, Devon
Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £24,000 to £30,000 – Depending on Experience
Puro Associates is excited to present a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to join a dynamic team in Newton Abbot. Our client is looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in payroll processing within either an accountancy or bureau environment. As a Senior Payroll Administrator, you will be key in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations for a diverse client base of approximately 450 clients, whilst maintaining compliance with the latest regulations.

Role & Responsibilities:As a Senior Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
- Processing various payrolls, including BACS processing, HMRC submissions under RTI, pension processing, and auto-enrolment administration.
- Managing client relationships and liaising with HMRC to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Handling complex payroll queries and providing second-line support for the payroll team.
- Administering Auto Enrolment setups and ensuring compliance for clients.
- Assisting with reporting and year-end procedures, ensuring all payroll functions are completed accurately and on time.
- Supporting the manager in mentoring and guiding junior staff members.
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Staying updated on payroll legislation changes and ensuring compliance across the team.
- Addressing any issues that may impact the business or clients promptly and effectively.
Required Experience:To be considered for the Senior Payroll Administrator role, you will need:
- 3 to 4 years of payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or bureau environment.
- Solid experience in running multiple pay runs, with a strong understanding of different pay structures, such as weekly, monthly, commission, bonuses, and ad-hoc changes.
- A proven ability to manage complex payroll queries and offer support to a team of payroll administrators.
- Experience in Auto Enrolment administration and processing.

- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage your workload efficiently while ensuring client expectations are consistently exceeded.
- The ability to work independently and show initiative while being part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build solid client relationships.
- Familiarity with accounting software, such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero.
- Knowledge of accounts production software such as CCH is desirable but not essential.
Qualifications:
- 5 GCSEs at grades A-C (or equivalent 4-9), including Maths and English.
- CIPP qualification is desirable but not essential; we also welcome candidates who are qualified by experience.
