This is a key appointment within the Independent Tax function, offering the opportunity for a highly motivated and detail-focused VAT professional to work closely with the VAT Partner in a client-facing, commercially focused role.

You will act as a central point of contact for VAT queries, provide technical advice to clients and colleagues, and support the wider VAT leadership team with complex casework and project delivery. The role offers excellent exposure across the wider firm and strong career development prospects.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact regarding VAT enquiries
  • Deliver clear, practical VAT advice to both clients and internal stakeholders, referencing VAT legislation and guidance where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, escalating technical or process issues to the VAT Manager as appropriate.
  • Identify complex VAT matters and ensure timely referral to senior VAT leadership.
  • Support business development activity through inbound client enquiries and cross-referrals across the wider firm.
  • Represent the VAT function across the business and deliver ad-hoc technical training to junior team members.
  • Stay up to date with VAT legislation and contribute to VAT updates, publications and website content.
  • Liaise with HMRC, tax authorities and external advisors as required.
  • Review, log and manage all VAT queries using central tracking systems to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Provide VAT guidance and support to both internal teams and external clients.
  • Assist with ECNs, pre-credential VAT claims and non-statutory VAT clearances.
  • Build strong working relationships with Senior Managers and Directors through regular communication.
  • Attend networking events, seminars and industry briefings to remain current on VAT developments.

Requirements:

  • Fully ACCA Qualified / equivalent
  • Accountancy practice background
  • Good interpersonal skills with client facing experience
