Wills & Probate Associate Solicitor (4+ PQE)
Location: North West (multiple offices / flexible)

A well-established and forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Wills & Probate Associate Solicitor to join its growing Private Client team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor or legal executive with strong technical expertise to handle a broad caseload of private client matters while contributing to the development of a collaborative and high-performing team.

The Role

You will manage a varied caseload of wills, probate, and estate planning matters, providing high-quality legal advice to a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting simple and complex wills, including those involving trusts, business, and agricultural assets
  • Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) for property & financial affairs and health & welfare
  • Advising on estate planning and inheritance tax mitigation strategies
  • Handling estate administration, including probate applications and distribution of assets
  • Managing inheritance tax, income tax, and capital gains tax compliance
  • Setting up and administering trusts, including drafting deeds of appointment
  • Advising on Deeds of Variation and post-death tax planning
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and delivering excellent client care
  • Supervising and supporting junior team members where appropriate
  • Contributing to business development and networking activities

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or Legal Executive
  • Minimum 4 years’ PQE / equivalent experience in private client work
  • Strong experience in wills, probate, trusts, and estate administration
  • Knowledge of inheritance tax planning and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication and client-care skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Desirable:

  • STEP qualification or working towards
  • Experience using case management systems (e.g. Proclaim)
