Job Title: Court of Protection Lawyer
Reporting to: Head of Department & Partners
Salary: Up to £60,000

Purpose:
Manage Mental Capacity welfare matters in the Court of Protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle Court of Protection welfare cases, with related Community Care and Judicial Review matters (where appropriate).
  • Maintain high professional standards in line with SRA, Lexcel, and internal policies.
  • Advise clients, manage caseloads, and ensure files and records are compliant.
  • Supervise and support junior team members where required.
  • Contribute to business development and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Work towards Law Society Court of Protection (Welfare) Accreditation.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong communication and client care skills, particularly with vulnerable individuals.
  • Solid understanding of Mental Capacity Law, Mental Health Law, and the Care Act.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, workload, and stakeholder relationships.

Experience

  • Court of Protection welfare and Community Care matters.
  • Accreditation (or working towards) in Mental Health/COP Welfare.
