Job Title: Accounts Senior
Location: Newton Abbot, Devon
Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,500 to £30,000 – Dependent on experience and qualifications

Role & Responsibilities:As an Accounts Senior, you will take responsibility for a wide range of duties, including:
- Planning and preparing accounts for a variety of clients, including Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies, from client records for review by the manager or reporting partner.
- Sending final accounts to clients and liaising with them to ensure their satisfaction.
- Assisting junior staff with accounts completion and providing on-the-job training.
- Setting and managing budgets for staff members.
- Preparing and reviewing Tax Returns for clients, including income tax and corporation tax returns.
- Calculating income tax and corporation tax liabilities, advising clients on how to manage their tax obligations.
- Managing day-to-day correspondence and ensuring timely communication with clients.
- Handling tax enquiry work as it arises.
- Preparing management and financial accounts.
- Coaching and developing junior team members, ensuring their professional growth.
- Providing software training to clients to improve their accounting processes.
- Ensuring daily timesheet completion and accurate record-keeping.
- Maintaining continuous professional development and staying up to date with industry changes.
As an Accounts Senior, you will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of service for clients, while managing your own workload efficiently.
Required Experience:To be considered for the Accounts Senior role, you should have:
- At least 1 year of recent post-qualification experience, or
- 3 to 4 years of experience working in practice, with a solid understanding of accounts preparation, business and corporate tax, and ideally personal tax.
- Experience gained within a fast-paced accountancy practice environment.
Desired Skills:The ideal Accounts Senior will possess:
- Strong knowledge of tax and accounting practices.
- Excellent computer and spreadsheet skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero, and accounts production software such as CCH.
- The ability to supervise and support junior team members.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong client relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and colleagues at various levels.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage your own workload effectively while exceeding client expectations.
Qualifications:
- AAT qualified or equivalent.
